The HPC-MLA Annual Meeting will take place on March 22, 2019 at the John A Burns School of Medicine’s Health Sciences Library.
Highlights include the annual MLA update from the MLA Past President Barbara Epstein, RML update from Judy Consales, and a half day Continuing Education workshop on the topic, “Precision Medicine” by Kay Deeney.
CE Description:
The Precision Medicine course is an approach to disease management that considers individual variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle. This course will provide participants with some baseline knowledge of genomics, an overview of the clinical applications of genomic medicine, an appreciation of the associated ethical and social issues inherent in this field and a review of NLM resources for health professionals and consumers. A highlight of the course is a role playing game which has course participants choose whether or not to pursue genetic testing.
